Good stuff--So gas blow backs are the way to go.I'm new so we are talking CO2 right? I have always loved the slick lines of a 1911(first weapon I ever touched) but feel really comfortable with a M9. I also am a fan of the new style autos (USP 45). Am I correct in thinking that there is not a real big selection in styles of pistols?

many of the co2 pistols run too hot for safe field use.....most of the fields up here don't allow them because of the fact that co2 can produce widely uncontrolable and different fps levels depending on the outside temps...i'mmmmm just saying....
while i like the WE GBB 1911 we have...i'll stick with my proven sidearm...KWA springer 1911...have had it for 10 years....always works...decently accurate at close range..(right josh?...lol..)...hell,i've even loaded bb's off the ground and it's worked....best $20 i ever spent in the hobby...there is a large selection of pistols out there ..depending on how deep your pockets are...

I use green gas cant stand the smell of propane but thats just me and co2 does get kinda high fps in the summer and since mostly u would pull ur sidearm for closer engagements u should go with green gas or propane

I was willed, by a friend who had some stuff to give me after finding out I was getting into Airsoft, a WE 1911. I got a propane addapter, and rocked on brother. The first weapon, as in real gun, I ever got my crubby little hands on was a 1911. <Got my ass beat by my Mother and an MP too boot!lol> It just feels right, and the action seems to click inside my head. Took very little for me to learn the gun. I also believe that for a big guy, or a guy with meat hooks, the full size 1911 fits like a glove. Not knocking M9, or any of the 1000's of other pistoles out there. But I have to go with brother Allout, the classics are as such for a reason. My two cents..

yeah...one of browning's best designs ever...ease of use was one of the reasons a 100 year old design is still in use today ...

You know I never stopped to think about it.. I get so use to just thinking of it as the 1911, but your right! It's almost 100 years old.. Wonder if Nighthawk will do something for that next year.. Pretty amazing when you think about it. How many 100 year old desings do we still use, with almost not up grades? Clote 45 may have given birth to the 20th, but I think Browns 1911 ruled it. LOL

Can you tell I'm a fan?

Has anyone given any thought to a shotgun as a side arm or back up? I understand that size and carry may be an issue.. But it seems to me the size could be a plus in stubility, range, and I have seen maybe a hand full of shotguns over 350 fps.. I think a short tac shotgun could be a real plus in the filed or CQB. And the price is always right, around 50 to 80 bucks cheaper then quite a few gas pistoles. Just a thought, throwing it out there.

The m9 is awesome. I have low budget so I bought a silent pistol that shoots 325 fps pump action though. Sorry for reviving a sorta dead thread.

There are no 'threadomancy-is-banned' rules that I have found. I carry an HFC M9 Because I carried a real-steel one before, and like the feel of it. Green gas, as it is more readily available (and the nefarious 'shoots-hot' with CO2) and as many mags as I can get to work that day.

I have a WE "dragon" style pistol. pretty darn accurate when set right. My brother has a WE he bought off a friend of mine that is pushing 6 years old. They seem to be pretty good for the money. Mine was about $100 and came with two mags (30ish per mag). I have the two GG mags and two co2 mags. I haven't had the gun long or the mags. but the co2 mags are a no brainer in the winter and are easy to get a hold of. I think in the summer if I shoot 10 or so "dry fires" to release some of the extra pressure it would be ok. Time will tell I guess.

So is the question, 'what sidearm does everyone use?' If that's the case, then I have an HFC M9 and a Mac 11.

I've thought about doing a mini sub for a side arm... but I can't bring my self to drop $200+ on a bullet hose with a low ammo count. I'd probably buy a leg holster for the mp5 first Wink
